I believe the biggest problem with our society is that we are too accustomed to everything that goes on. We tend to believe we have no control of aspects of our life that we indeed do. How many people do you hear complain about their job every single day but never take any action to change their situation? “That’s just the way it is” is the most harmful phrase to our society, and the people that move our society forward are those that don’t think that way.

The best way to solve this problem is to think like an outsider. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who is just getting their first glimpse at American culture and our way of life. What exactly would they see? They would see millions of people who spend 5 days out of the week doing work that doesn’t fulfill them. They would then see those people fill themselves with a depressant that slows down their judgement for the next two nights so that they can escape from their unfulfilling week. Rinse and repeat. Not only this, but the same people that are apart of this cycle paid thousands of dollars to get that that point in their life.

If you think like an outsider you’ll see how strange the “corporate” work cycle really is and can foster a change for yourself. Find work that matters, so you hop out of bed every day excited to move our society forward. Then after a productive week, take time to celebrate with your loved ones, instead of escaping.
